「ユースなんみんプラットフォーム」は3月23日(土)・24日(日)に開催された「民主主義ユースフェスティバル2024」にて、若者団体のブースの1つに出展させていただきました。
メイン企画のアクションリサーチでは来場者の方に「仮放免や入管」「難民と政治」「難民女性とLGBTQ+」の展示ボードを見ていただいたり、YRPメンバーと対話しながら、
【問い】
・「あなたの友人やクラスメートが、難民の背景を持つ人や、難民申請が認められず在留資格すら与えられなかった人だったら、あなたはどうしますか？」
・「難民を保護するために、どんな政治にしたい？」
・「女性やLGBTQ＋の背景を持つ難民ってどんな課題を抱えていると思う？」
に考えを書いていただきました。
仮放免や入管の展示ボードでは、今月入管でメンバーが面会した、死のうと思っている被収容者の方や仮放免で在留資格がない高校生の生活状況をお伝えしました。難民と政治の展示ボードでは、難民条約、改定入管法、日本の難民認定率、国際的保護に関わる制度を表しました。難民女性とLGBTQ+の展示ボードでは、アフガニスタン出身の難民女性は出身国でのマインドセットが続き、日本でも家から出ないのが普通でDVや日本語レッスンに行けないことにつながるというメンバーの話やLGBTQ+の方の日本での難民認定の近況を取り上げました。
また、他の展示企画では、過去にYRPが協力や主催をしたプロジェクトの難民アスリート写真展やアイデアコンペの受賞作品、民族衣装の展示をしました。
本イベントを通して、難民に関する状況やYRPの活動内容をお伝えする中で、来場者の方から新たな視点や学びを得られました。民主主義ユースフェスティバル2024の一角で、政党や議員の方、他のユース団体が周りにいる中で上記の展示を行ったので、政治や若者という立場を普段以上に大切に考えながら、YRPの活動を展開することができました。
Youth with Refugees Platform (YRP) attended as one of the youth organizations at the Democracy Youth Festival 2024, held on Saturday, March 23, and Sunday, March 24.
For our main project, "Action Research," we displayed the boards on three themes: provisional release and immigration detention, refugees and politics, and refugee women and LGBTQ+.
We asked the visitors to write their answers to our questions:
"What would you do if your neighbor or classmate was someone with a refugee background or someone whose application for refugee status was not recognized or even granted?"
"What kind of politics would be desirable to protect refugees?"
"What challenges do you think refugee women and LGBTQ+ face?
On the display board of provisional release and immigration, we explained the situation of the person whom a YRP member met this month in the immigration detention facility and who lost the will to live and high school students who are on provisional release and do not have status of residence. The Refugees and Politics display board briefly explained the Refugee Convention, the revised Immigration Control Act, the recent refugee recognition rates, and international protection in Japan. The Refugee Women and LGBTQ+ exhibit board featured stories of Afghan refugee women who have a mindset the same as that of their country of origin, which leads to them not leaving their homes in Japan, enduring domestic violence, and not being able to attend Japanese lessons and the recent recognition of LGBTQ+ refugee status in Japan.
Other exhibitions showed previous collaborated projects, such as a photo exhibition of refugee athletes, an idea competition hosted by YRP, and ethnic costumes and accessories.
Through this event, we gained new perspectives and knowledge while talking with visitors about the situation regarding refugees and YRP's activities. Since we were allowed to exhibit as a part of the Democracy Youth Festival 2024 and held the above exhibit while many members of some political parties, legislators, and other youth organizations were nearby, we raised our awareness of politics and the importance of youth.
